Banana Muffins

Friday, March 02, 2007 at 09:41am

I think I am going to make these banana muffins later on today. They look good for breakfast or snacks and are only about 150 calories apiece. I don’t have any pecans, though, so I might use some walnuts instead. I also don’t have any oat bran, but I don’t think it will be a problem leaving it out. I can always add extra fiber with some of this stuff.

Just like we did with Sister Madonna back in grade school!

Otherwise, those look like they’d be good. I don’t love supersweet stuff, and I need to get more whole grains in my diet. If you know what I’m sayin’.

The surest sign that I’m about to leave my 30s is that I now look at the cholesterol and fiber content of every single thing I buy at the grocery store. And I get really happy whenever something has more than 10% of my daily allowance of fiber.

    40s, here I come!!!

Michael, I REALLY KNOW what you’re talking about. I was taking the wellbutrin to help with the smoking-quitting, and that has done gone junked my stuffs!

That kind of fibre gives me gas. Not the cute little, “Oh, oops!” kind of gas, but the kind where I have to sit on one side of the room and everyone else sits on the other.

“Junked my stuffs” made me snort. I’ve been eating TONS of fiber, but apparently not getting the right mix between SOLUBLE and INSOLUBLE varieties. When did this get so complicated? More whole grains are needed, so let us know how those muffins come out.

    I’ll let you know tomorrow.

Just got back from a walk (it’s really nice today!) and need a shower. Then, muffin time!

    (dirty?)

Ha! My sister used to say, “Just give me a minute to buff my muffin and I’ll be out the door!”

Or was it “powder my muffin”?

I’ve heard great things about these, but I haven’t tried them myself. Usually my problem is not getting enough insoluble fibre…the bulk-forming stuff.

Bowel Buddies? I need to have them, and I need to display them in a prominent area in my home.

From the website: “Don’t be concerned if you quickly lose a few pounds while using the Bowel Buddies Bran Wafers.”

HAR! “oh my god, i’m losing weight, call the doctor, this isn’t right!” Snerk.

It says you may “lose up to five pounds of debris from your colon”. Debris makes it sound like there’s ciggie butts and candy wrappers and loose change in there.

My Fitday shows I get like 30 or more grams of fiber/day, but it’s almost all fruits and vegetables. I might just have to test out those Bowel Buddies!

    With me? There probably is.

Bowel Buddies are the bomb. The big, brown bomb.

    I’m sorry.
